We are so excited to be bringing a whole new concept to our Dance Mash-Up classes in 2024! Get your dancing shoes on – it’s going to be a whole lot of fun.
The Evolution of Dance Mash-Up
Our Dance Mash-Up classes were launched in early 2023 and it’s been fantastic to see how children have taken to the new activity offered at Gymfinity Kids. They’ve learnt basic dance moves, explored corner work and got moving in a whole new way! It was launched in our Cambridge and Wandsworth clubs first and soon gained enough popularity for us to launch it in Walton-on-Thames and then, most recently, Bracknell!
We’ve worked closely with Rachel, the creator of Dance Mash-Up, to develop the Gymfinity class programme. We’ve shaken it up to provide a real dance experience that will introduce different dance styles, genres and moves to the children.
From January 2024, our classes will focus on a particular genre of dance so the children can really get to grips with the particular dance style. They will practice drills to hone movements and learn dedicated routines to improve their memory skills. Children can expect a fun class that will give them a taste and feel for all types of genres!
The NEW Dance Mash-Up Concept
We will focus on a particular dance style for 6 – 8 weeks and finish with Show Week (the week before the half-term or school holidays) where the children will perform the routines to their parents at the end of their class.
The structured learning environment fosters discipline while the group setting promotes social interaction, teamwork, and friendship. The children will explore what makes a particular dance style, from certain footwork, armwork, body movement, spins, body isolations, shoulder shimmies, rolls, and even hand styling. They will experience a wide variety of music (get ready for those show tunes in Musical Theatre!) and learn how different movements and music go together to produce works of art.
January 2024: MUSICAL THEATRE
In the new year, we are kicking off with Musical Theatre! The dances will be to songs from legendary musical films, such as The Lion King, Encanto and Toy Story. Children will learn routines similar to those embraced on stage to fantastic singalong classics!
Going forward into 2024, we will see other genres such as:
- Classical & Lyrical Dance
- Hip Hop Dance
- Salsa (Summer holiday)
- Halloween Moves
- Christmas Routines

To celebrate the launch of our first dance style, Musical Theatre, we have an exciting giveaway in store for those who love musicals!
If you attend a dance taster over January or February 2024, you will go into the draw to win two tickets to a West End Show of your choice in London!

Who can take Dance Mash-Up classes?
We will continue to offer Dance Mash-Up classes to all – no matter how much experience they have in dance! Our classes are tailored for two distinct age groups, ensuring a suitable and enjoyable learning environment for all.
Our younger dancers aged 4.5 – 7 years, embark on a fun-filled journey of dance, games to help build confidence and skills and team-building activities. Meanwhile, our 8+ years age group delves deeper into the dance genre, exploring the more complex moves of the dance styles.
Both age groups will learn new moves to professionally choreographed routines, but we ensure that the skill level is appropriate for the age group all the while nurturing their love for dance in a positive learning environment.
Currently, we are not grading the children or implementing an award scheme for their dance skills. This may be something we look to do in the future, but for now, it’s all about introducing dance to the children, ensuring they have fun whilst also learning new skills and improving confidence.
