At Gymfinity Kids, we believe every child deserves the chance to shine, whether learning their first forward roll or mastering a back handspring! Every achievement should be recognised, no matter how big or small.
As the UK’s leading provider of children’s gymnastics and other activities, we know that a strong support system at home makes all the difference. If you’re wondering how to encourage your young gymnast, here are our top tips for supporting their fitness journey.
1. Be Their Biggest Cheerleader
Whether your child is new to children’s gymnastics or a seasoned tumbler, showing up matters. Attend their classes if there’s a viewing space to watch, cheer them on at events, and make time to talk about what they’ve learned in class that day. When it comes to competitions or our Award Weeks, kids beam with pride when they spot a familiar face in the audience!
If you’re looking for nearby gymnastics classes, we’ve got you covered. Gymfinity Kids clubs across the UK offer welcoming spaces where parents can get involved and celebrate ALL progress.

2. Celebrate Every Achievement
That first cartwheel? A huge win! Finally landing a bridge? Time for a high-five! Progress in gymnastics doesn’t always come quickly, but celebrating each step keeps your child motivated. Recognise the effort, not just the outcome, because learning to persist is just as important as nailing the skill.
We create an environment where children feel supported and confident. Our expert Gymfinity Kids coaches focus on personal progress and tailor encouragement to every child’s unique journey.
You can track your child’s progress from within your Parent Portal – you can see every skill they’ve achieved and when they have completed a level. Be sure to check in to see your child’s progress and celebrate any wins they achieved in class!

3. Encourage Resilience and Persistence
Not every week will be perfect. Sometimes there’ll be wobbles, or skills that take a bit longer to learn. That’s OK! One of the biggest gifts gymnastics gives children is resilience: the ability to try, try, try again. Remind them that mistakes are part of the process and that every champion was once a beginner.
Our gymnastics classes across the UK are built to teach more than movement. We foster discipline, perseverance, and a growth mindset, all through fun and safe sessions.
Our Values Recognition Scheme rewards children who show core values whilst in club, such as bravery and determination. We know that these qualities can be detrimental to development both in and outside of class!

4. Create a Healthy Routine
Consistency is key when it comes to developing fitness habits. A regular class schedule helps children build confidence and see progress over time. Attending their weekly class means they can learn alongside their classmates and develop bonds with both their fellow gymnasts and their coach.
Also, making sure your child is well-rested, hydrated, and fuelled with nutritious food is so important, as this combination helps them power through those cartwheels and rolls!

5. Lead by Example
Your child looks up to you, more than you might realise! Show them that being active is fun and important by getting involved. Maybe it’s a family stretch session, cheering from the sidelines, or celebrating milestones with a healthy treat.
Supporting your child’s fitness journey doesn’t mean being perfect… it means being present. Reducing screentime for both yourself and your child can be so helpful in getting them active. Instead, set them challenges or other entertaining activities to help keep their eyes off the screen and their blood pumping!
At Gymfinity Kids, we’re more than just a place to flip and tumble…
We’re here to help your child grow in confidence, courage, and coordination. With clubs across the UK and dedicated coaches ready to inspire, there’s never been a better time to start.
