Jackson’s Story

Jackson’s mum contacted our team after hearing about the Gymfinity and Beyond campaign on our social media channels. Cathy kindly sent in the short passage below.

“Unfortunately for Jackson school was not very enjoyable. He was bullied consistently throughout his time there. It all came to a head when he was in year 4 and it started to affect his health. Jackson was diagnosed with stress-induced abdominal migraines which really started to affect his way of life. He also started to suffer from anxiety attacks. We eventually made the tough decision to remove him from school and home-educate him.

As a result of the bullying, Jackson suffers from social anxiety. He usually has trouble with large groups of children, talking to new people and a real lack of confidence.

Something was different from the beginning with Gymfinity Kids though. He really seemed to warm quickly to his coach, Jesse. He also, for the first time EVER, has been excited about his classes each week. We haven’t had a single “I don’t want to go” or “I don’t feel well” since he started. Which is usually the norm after just a couple of weeks at a new class. To see him talking to his ninja coach Jesse like it’s no big deal astounds me as he wouldn’t even look adults in the eye a year ago.

It’s amazing for me to see Jackson enjoy something so much, especially after his confidence was knocked so badly by bullying.

He looks so chuffed with himself whenever he achieves Star of the Week and his confidence has started building in other areas of his life too. I honestly believe it’s all coming from his Gymfinity Classes and the sense of pride they give him.

Jackson now attends Gymfinity three times a week. Once to help his little brother during a pre-school session, once for his Ninja Razors lesson with Jesse (his favourite!) and once to a home educated class which again he absolutely loves and it’s so great to have this opportunity. All the coaches are fantastic with the kids and we really appreciate the effort they put in.

Thank you Gymfinity Kids from a proud mum!”
